AUGUST 18, 1948 DENVER (COLORADO) POST NEWSPAPER
covering the
DEATH OF BABE RUTH
.  Front page has a recent photo of the Yankees legend, with headline "BABE RUTH DIES OF CANCER AT 53; FABULOUS BANVINO ILL 2 YEARS" above the fold.  This is the complete 32-page newspaper in two sections.  The first section has a wraparound "pink sheet" cover ~ the "LATEST EXTRA EMPIRE EDITION".  Both sections have coverage of Ruth's death and career with many photos.  Just obtained from the estate of the original owner.
See photos for a closer look.  The edges of the pink sheet are frayed and chipped, and there is a small piece out of the fold at center (Ruth content not affected); several small edge and fold tears; pink sheet has lightly faded and paper has lightly aged but is very supple.  Inside pages show normal edge wear.  Nice display item.
