For sale is a Carolina Cameo piece decorated by Judy Petrie and turned by Charles Lisk.
Judy started doing cameo decoration on pottery around 1985 in Conover, NC.  She would have other potters turn the pieces (Hilton, Lisk, Ellington), bisque fire them, matte glaze fire them, and then layer porcelain paint decoration before final firing.  It entailed a lot of work and very fine artistry.  Only a handful of potters in NC have done cameo (Stephens of Pisgah Pottery, Rodney Leftwhich at Pisgah, Marjorie Pittman for short period, and Judy Petrie).  Judy’s cameo work is unparalleled in that group.  Her work on Charles Lisk and Kim Ellington turned pieces is particularly sought after.  She stopped doing cameo about 8 years ago.
Stands 6” tall.  Lots of nice detail, notice the tiny ants crawling up stems.  No chips, cracks, or repairs.
