This is the GNS-430W, a newer and much-improved version of the popular GNS-430. There are a number of improvements in the GNS-430W, but the primary ones are WAAS Approach Capability and Terrain Information.
WAAS Approach Capability
- WAAS, or Wide Area Augmentation System, is a fundamental improvement to GPS accuracy. By adding a series of ground stations and geostationary satellites, WAAS GPS is typically 5 times more accurate than "regular" GPS. This means that it is now possible to fly a complete "Virtual Glideslope" approach into an airport with no local ground-based navigation aids whatsoever. A GNS-430W makes the following approaches available:
LNAV (Lateral Navigation):
This is a new name for non-precision GPS approaches as we have known them. Like all non-precision approaches, this has a minimum descent altitude (MDA), based on obstructions and terrain.
LNAV/VNAV (Lateral Navigation / Vertical Navigation):
This class of approach provides Glideslope vertical guidance with a decision altitude (DA) typically 350 feet AGL.
LPV (Localizer Performance with Vertical guidance):
This is the most precise of the WAAS GPS approaches, the GPS equivalent of a Cat I ILS approach. It also offers Glideslope vertical guidance, but the DA is lower, typically from 200-250 feet AGL.
There are thousands of FAA-approved LPV WAAS approaches, with more being added regularly. The FAA's stated goal is to have a WAAS approach available for every public runway at least 3,200 feet long.
Terrain Information
- With the GNS-430W, the terrain database is standard (for improved awareness and safety), and it provides this information with greater resolution and precision than the GNS-430. It is possible to add terrain information to a GNS-430, but this is an expensive option.

When will my order ship?
We are generally able to ship same-day if the order is received by 1pm Pacific Time.
How do I check the status of my order?
When your order ships, you will be provided a tracking number via e-mail. Please contact us if you do not receive tracking information within 24-hrs.
Can I return an item?
Unless otherwise noted in a particular listing, the following policy applies. All brand new products come with a 30-day money back guarantee (less 15% restocking fee). Items that are used/reconditioned include a 7-day DOA policy. If the item has a problem or is missing any accessories listed in the auction, please contact us immediately. If we made an error with your shipment, we will correct it.
UPS shipping costs apply to 48 contiguous states.
USPS is a much cheaper alternative for shipments to AK & HI.

We ship either FedEx Expedited or USPS. We cannot ship orders valued over 0 via USPS. They will only ship FedEx.
International buyers must use a major credit card or be a verified PayPal member with a confirmed address. International customers are responsible for all customs, duties, taxes, and VAT charges. We are not able to determine these taxes for you, as they are depenant on each individual country.
If an item is not paid for within three days, we reserve the right to relist or sell the item to another customer. We will also initiate an unpaid item dispute with eBay.
Any warranty indicated as a "PCA" warranty is through our service department. If a problem develops in the warranty period indicated in the auction, please contact us right away so we can determine the appropriate action. We will repair the unit ourselves, send the unit for outside repair, or replace the item at our discretion. In any case, we must be contacted before a manufacturer or outside repair facility is contacted.
